TechCrunch on amerikkalainen blogi, joka profiloi ja arvioi uusia internet tuotteita ja yrityksiä. TC kirjoittaa myös toimivista yrityksistä, jotka aikaansaavat merkittäviä kaupallisia ja/tai kulttuurisia vaikutuksia Web ympäristössä.
”TechCrunch, founded on June 11, 2005, is a weblog dedicated to obsessively profiling and reviewing new Internet products and companies. In addition to new companies, we will profile existing companies that are making an impact (commercial and/or cultural) on the new web space. Amerikassa arvuutellaan, että TechCrunch valmistautuu Venture Capital (VC) kierrokseen. Viikonlopun uutinen on, että Heather Harde, currently the SVP of Mergers and Acquisitions at Fox Interactive Media, aloittaa TechCrunchin Networksin toimitusjohtajana maaliskuun loppuun mennessä. Nimitys on kiinnostavat, koska se ennakoi joidenkin mielestä Corporate Blogging läpimurtoa. Blogeista on tulossa arvostettu media muiden medioiden joukossa.
I have the pleasure of confirming the rumors: Heather Harde, currently the SVP of Mergers and Acquisitions at Fox Interactive Media, will start her new job as the CEO of the TechCrunch Network (and my boss) by the end of the month. This isn’t the way I hoped to announce this news, but Om Malik broke the story after an internal Fox email got out.
Heather Harde on istunut kymmenen vuotta isolla postilla Fox Mediassa, vastuualueina yrityskehitys, Coroporate Development, hän tuntee Fox Interactive median kehitysvaiheet.
It was tough to talk Heather out of leaving Fox, where she’s been for the last ten years. In that time she’s had a combination of operating and corporate development roles. Most recently, she was part of the founding executive team of Fox Interactive Media. At FIM she ran the mergers and acquisitions team, which was responsible for eight acquisitions, totalling $1.3 billion, and two equity investment deals. Prior to Fox, Heather was at business school at Harvard.
Onko TechCrunch menossa pörssiin? Mike Arringtonia, TechCrunchin perustajaa on onniteltu blogospheressä. Yleisesti ollaan sitä mieltä, että tama on alkusoittoa uudelle vaiheelle, joka tarkoittanee toiminnan kasvattamista.
There is a lot for her to do. She will run every aspect of our business other than editorial, which I’ll be focusing on for now. TechCrunch has grown faster than I could manage over the last couple of years. Heather’s job will be to leverage the opportunities that we have sometimes let slip by, and to manage our organic and acquisition growth going forward.
“If you can’t tell, I’m pretty excited to have her on board. More announcements are coming soon.” Mike Arrington kirjoittaa blogissaan, jossa hän pahoittelee uutisen vuotamista ennen aikojaan, mutta reaktioista päätellen monet ovat sitä mieltä, että teko on hatun noston arvoinen.
Miten voimme siirtää TechCrunch ilmiön oppeja Suomeen? Ehkä sellaisenaan ei mitenkään, koska markkinamme ovat niin rajalliset, mutta Corporate Bloggin nousua tämä ehdottomasti ennakoi. Millaisia muotoja yritysbloggaaminen saa Suomessa? Sekin on edelleen hämärän peitossa. Olisin kiinnostunut keskustelemaan tästä Pressossa kahvikupin äärellä. Hauskaa viikonloppua jokaiselle, vaaleissa olemme kaikki voittajia. Onnea läpimenneille etukäteen ja henkistä tukea niille, jotka jäävät rannalle.
